PES Group — European Committee of the Regions
The PES Group brings together social-democratic and progressive locally and regionally elected politicians from across the European Union, including mayors, regional presidents, and councillors. As the political group of the Party of European Socialists (PES) within the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), it champions a progressive vision rooted in solidarity, social inclusion, and territorial cohesion.
The CoR serves as the EU’s assembly of local and regional authorities—the voices closest to implementation—representing nearly 70% of EU legislation’s impact area. Within this body, the PES Group drives policies by working across all six CoR thematic commissions—including environment, housing, governance, and social affairs—and by organizing events, workshops, and citizen debates that ground EU policymaking in local realities.
