UX Redesign of Chart Visualizations for Multi-Metric Comparison, and Data Interactivity

The Upgraded Charts redesign aimed to give advertisers a more insightful, interactive, and visually clear way to interpret campaign performance data.

As campaign complexity and the variety of tracked metrics grew, Adspert needed a charting system that:

  • Delivered quick overviews for decision-making.

  • Allowed deeper exploration for advanced analysis.

The Challenge

Before the upgrade, Adspert’s charts struggled to keep up with evolving advertiser needs:

  • Cluttered visuals made it difficult to read trends at a glance.

  • Limited ability to compare multiple metrics.

The challenge was to design a flexible, interactive visualization system that scaled with complexity while staying approachable for all user types.

My Role & Responsibilities

As the sole UX/UI designer, I:

  • Researched best practices in SaaS data visualization and compared competitor approaches.

  • Defined the visual language for Adspert’s charts, including color schemes, typography, and spacing.

  • Designed interaction patterns for multi-metric comparison, hover tooltips, dynamic legends, and zoom controls.

  • Analyzed analytics tools to identify successful patterns.

2. Visual & Interaction Design

  • Multi-metric comparison: Allowed users to overlay up to 3 metrics (e.g., TACoS, spend, sales) for direct correlation analysis.

  • Improved readability: Optimized contrast, added clearer labels, and refined line weights for better visibility.

  • Enhanced interactivity: Improved hover states, dynamic legends that highlight selected metrics.
